The route this page recommends
A chat interface, no skill needed, and roughly 15 minutes until you can act on the result.
How to actually do it
- Open your current CV and the job advert, then copy the sections describing your recent roles and the main requirements of the target role.
- Gather factual evidence for each role, including projects completed, problems solved, improvements made, positive feedback, workload, deadlines, customers, tools and any figures you can verify from records.
- Paste the CV sections, job advert and verified details into the prompt, replacing each bracketed slot and stating when no measurement is available.
- Ask the chatbot to produce achievement bullets and to label any missing evidence instead of filling gaps with guesses.
- Compare every drafted bullet with your CV, emails, reports, appraisal notes or other records, and delete any claim you could not defend in an interview.
- Choose the accurate bullets that best match the job advert, then paste them into the relevant CV role using consistent tense, length and formatting.
- Read the complete CV aloud and remove repeated, vague or inflated wording before sending it.
Prompt
Help me turn my real work experience into achievement statements for my CV. Use only the facts I provide and invent nothing. If a result, figure, scale or outcome is missing, write [evidence needed] rather than guessing. Separate responsibilities from achievements, and prioritise what changed, improved, delivered, solved or enabled. Use the format: action, context, result, with concise British English and strong verbs. Give me up to three versions of each achievement: a short CV bullet, a version with a measurable result if my evidence supports it, and a plain version if no measurement is available. Do not add unsupported percentages, savings, rankings, awards, team sizes or claims about leadership. Keep the wording accurate enough for me to defend in an interview. First list the facts you used for each bullet, then provide the drafted bullets. Target role or job advert: [PASTE JOB ADVERT OR ROLE DESCRIPTION] My current CV or work history: [PASTE CV OR WORK HISTORY] Extra details about projects, results, feedback, tools, customers, budgets, volumes, deadlines or improvements: [PASTE VERIFIED DETAILS] Preferred tone: [PLAIN, PROFESSIONAL, DIRECT OR OTHER] Do not rewrite the whole CV. Focus only on adding or improving achievement bullets.

What it gets wrong
- AI cannot know which parts of your work mattered most to your manager, customers or target employer without your context.
- AI cannot supply a genuine result when you did not record one, so weak evidence remains weak after rewriting.
- AI cannot reliably distinguish your individual contribution from the work of a wider team unless you explain it.
- AI defaults to familiar CV language that can make different candidates sound alike.
- AI cannot confirm that an achievement is true; you have to check and own every claim.
Even on a YES, the friction has a name: context depth, judgement under ambiguity and taste.
How we scored this
Five axes, each scored nought to two by hand: ten means AI carries the task cleanly, and the thresholds that turn a total into YES, PARTLY or NO are published in the methodology. Each axis name links to its definition.
| Axis | Score (0–2) |
|---|---|
| Output | 2 |
| Inputs | 2 |
| Verification | 2 |
| Liability | 2 |
| Effort delta | 2 |
| Total | 10 / 10 |
The methodology and its thresholds are published in full.
FAQ
- Can AI add achievements to my CV?
- Yes. Give it factual details about what you did, what changed and any results you can verify, and it can turn them into concise CV bullets. Check every claim against your own records before using it.
- How do I use AI to write achievements on my CV?
- Paste your relevant work history, the target job advert and specific evidence such as improvements, feedback, volumes or deadlines. Tell the tool to mark missing evidence instead of inventing figures, then choose only bullets you can defend in an interview.
- Will AI make up achievements for my CV?
- It can add unsupported results, figures or claims when your input is vague. Tell it to use only supplied facts and to write [evidence needed] where information is missing, then check every bullet yourself.
- Is it safe to use AI on my CV?
- It is generally suitable for drafting and editing achievement statements when you remove unnecessary personal or confidential information. Do not accept wording that exaggerates your contribution, and remember that you are responsible for the CV you submit.
