No cookies, no trackers, and the proof

The pages this site builds set no cookies, store nothing in your browser, and load nothing from third parties. That claim is verified mechanically on every build: a check fails the release if any page would set a cookie, write to browser storage, or load a third-party resource. It is a property of the built output, checked before it ships, not a promise. The infrastructure the site runs on sits outside that check and is described under "Who we share information with" below.

What information we collect, use, and why

We collect or use the following information to provide services, which here means the hiring pages:

• Names and contact details.
• The brief you write about your task, in your own words; and for people applying to be listed as providers, a public bio, base location and service offer. A brief is free text about your own circumstances: for a tax or bookkeeping task it will usually contain financial details. Write only what you would tell the person you are hiring. A provider's contact email is never published, and the site's build process is structurally unable to read it.

We collect or use the following information for the newsletter, which is marketing: AI news, new answers and product picks, and it may include paid promotions and affiliate links, labelled as such:

• Names and contact details, meaning the email address you subscribe with.
• Records of consent: the exact wording you agreed to, its version, and the page you agreed on. Subscription is double opt-in, and nothing is ever sent to an address that has not clicked its confirmation link.
• A salted, irreversible hash of your connection address, stored with the consent record. The raw address is never stored.

We collect or use the following information to comply with legal requirements:

• Contact information, and the content of the rights requests and complaints you send us.

We collect or use the following information for dealing with queries, complaints or claims:

• Names and contact details.
• Correspondence.

We collect or use the following information to plan which answers to write next, and to publish an honest count of readers who handed a task to AI:

• Unmatched search text you type into the site search, stored with no identifier attached.
• A salted, irreversible hash of your connection address, so the "handed to AI" counter counts each person once per day. The raw address is never stored, and only aggregate counts, never anything per-person, may be published on the site.

Lawful bases and data protection rights

Under UK data protection law, we must have a "lawful basis" for collecting and using your personal information. There is a list of possible lawful bases in the UK GDPR, and you can find out more about them onthe ICO's website.

Which lawful basis we rely on may affect your data protection rights, which are set out in brief below:

• Your right of access. You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. You can request other information too, such as details about where we get personal information from and who we share it with.
• Your right to rectification. You have the right to ask us to correct or delete personal information you think is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Your right to erasure. You have the right to ask us to delete your personal information. Erasure here is actioned against every table that holds your data, including the consent records.
• Your right to restriction of processing. You have the right to ask us to limit how we can use your personal information.
• Your right to object to processing. You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data. On this site the legitimate-interests activities, search-query capture and the vote counter, are the ones an objection most directly reaches.
• Your right to data portability. You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you.
• Your right to withdraw consent. When we use consent as our lawful basis, you have the right to withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it: the unsubscribe link in any email, or the form below, both work.

If you make a request, we must respond to you without undue delay and in any event within one month. Make one through the form below or by email; both reach the same inbox.

Our lawful bases, purpose by purpose

For the hiring pages, and for the newsletter, the basis isconsent: we have permission from you, given by an unticked checkbox, after we gave you the relevant information. You can withdraw it at any time.

For legal requirements, and for handling queries and complaints, the basis islegal obligation: we have to keep these records to comply with the law. Your rights may apply except erasure, objection and portability while the obligation runs.

For search-query capture and the vote counter, the basis islegitimate interests: search text with no match tells us which answers readers need next, so the site answers real questions rather than guessed ones; the once-a-day vote count keeps a published counter honest. Both use the minimum possible information: search text is stored alone with no identifier, and the vote stores only a salted, irreversible hash of your connection address, never the address itself. Neither is used to profile, contact or track anyone.

Where we get personal information from

Directly from you, at the moment you type it or click it. This site buys no data, enriches nothing from other sources, and receives nothing about you from anyone else.

How long we keep information

• Subscriber email addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask for erasure. The consent record itself is kept for twelve months after withdrawal, as evidence the processing was lawful while it ran, then erased.
• Unmatched search queries: twelve months, then deleted.
• Vote hashes: kept as the source of the published count; they identify nobody without a secret that never leaves the server.
• Rights requests and complaints: twenty-four months as the record they were handled, then deleted.
• Briefs: twelve months after submission, then erased. Erasure on request at any time before that.
• Provider profiles: while you are listed. The vetting record is kept for twenty-four months after you leave, as the append-only record of who decided what; erasure removes your profile and the vetting record together.

Who we share information with

Data processors

Cloudflare, Inc. serves the website and provides security at its edge. Supabase hosts the database, in London, that stores the information described in this notice. Both act on our instructions.

Others

Approved provider profiles (name, bio, location and offer, never the contact email) are published on this website: that is what a listing is. And if you send a brief asking to hire someone, it is shared only with the vetted providers listed on the page you sent it from, so they can reply to you directly, and with no one else.

Sharing information outside the UK

Where necessary, our data processors may share personal information outside the UK. When doing so, they comply with the UK GDPR, making sure appropriate safeguards are in place. Cloudflare, Inc., our content delivery and security provider, is headquartered in the United States; the transfer relies on the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How to complain

If you have any concerns about our use of your personal information, you can make a data protection complaint to us with this form or by email at[email protected]: the two routes are the same inbox. Complaints are acknowledged by email within 30 days, usually much sooner, and answered without undue delay. The form works without JavaScript, and it is also the working route for erasure and access requests.
