How to actually do it
- Write down the exact word or phrase to find, including the required spelling, and decide whether the search should cover one folder, a whole drive or uploaded files.
- Open the built-in file manager for your device, such as File Explorer on Windows, Finder on macOS or the equivalent file app on your system, and select the folder where the files are stored.
- Enter the word or phrase in the file manager's content search field rather than only its filename field, and add the relevant file type filter if the search tool provides one.
- If the device cannot search inside the file type, copy a small representative set of files into a temporary folder and attach them to the chatbot with the exact search instruction.
- Ask the chatbot to list only files in the supplied material that contain the words, quoting the matching passage and stating when it could not read a file.
