As of 13 August 2026, AI can quiz you on your revision.
Most people should do this themselves; the prompt is on this page.

If this goes wrong: you practise a weak or incorrect answer and need to correct it against your revision materials.

The route this page recommends
A chat interface, chat-fluent skill, and roughly 15 minutes until you can act on the result.
How to actually do it
- Open a chatbot or StudyFetch and choose the subject and qualification you are revising.
- Gather the relevant notes, textbook extracts, past-paper questions and official mark scheme for one topic.
- Paste the supplied prompt, replacing the bracketed slots with your subject, level, topic and number of questions.
- Paste the revision material after the prompt and ask the model to begin with one question at a time.
- Answer each question from memory before reading the explanation, then compare any disputed marking point with your notes or the official mark scheme.
- Use the model's final list of weak topics to select the next revision section and repeat the quiz with that material.
Prompt
Act as my revision quiz tutor for [subject], [qualification and level], [exam board if known], focusing on [topics]. Use only the revision material I paste below and generally accepted subject knowledge where the material is silent. Ask one question at a time and wait for my answer. Mix recall, explanation, application and exam-style questions, with harder questions when I answer correctly and a simpler explanation when I do not. Do not show the answer before I respond. After each response, say whether it is correct, partly correct or incorrect, give a concise explanation, identify the missing points, and award marks using this mark scheme if supplied. Keep a running list of topics I need to revisit. After [number] questions, give me a score, the topics to revise next and three specific follow-up questions. Do not invent facts, quotations, laws, dates, experiments or mark-scheme requirements. If the material is insufficient to answer confidently, say so and ask me for the relevant extract. What it gets wrong
- It cannot know whether your course has a teacher-specific interpretation unless you provide the relevant specification or classroom material.
- It can write plausible questions that test a detail outside your exam or miss the balance used by your actual paper.
- Its marking can differ from an official mark scheme, especially for extended answers where wording and judgement matter.
- It cannot replace timed practice with real exam papers under the conditions you will face.
Even on a YES, the friction has a name: context depth and judgement under ambiguity.
How we scored this
Five axes, each scored nought to two by hand: ten means AI carries the task cleanly, and the thresholds that turn a total into YES, PARTLY or NO are published in the methodology. Each axis name links to its definition.
| Axis | Score (0–2) |
|---|---|
| Output | 2 |
| Inputs | 2 |
| Verification | 2 |
| Liability | 2 |
| Effort delta | 2 |
| Total | 10 / 10 |
The methodology and its thresholds are published in full.
FAQ
- Can ChatGPT quiz me on my GCSE revision?
- Yes. Give it your subject, exam board, topic and revision material, then tell it to ask one question at a time and mark each answer against the supplied material. Check difficult or disputed answers against your notes and the official mark scheme.
- Can AI mark my revision answers?
- Yes, for short answers and basic exam practice. It is less reliable for extended responses, so compare its marking points with the official mark scheme rather than treating its score as final.
- Can AI make revision questions from my notes?
- Yes. Paste the notes and ask for a mixture of recall, explanation, application and exam-style questions, with the answers kept hidden until you respond. Check that the questions stay within your specification and do not contain invented facts.
- Is AI good for revising for exams?
- It is useful for active recall because it can keep testing you and adapt the difficulty. It does not know your exact course coverage or the quality of its own questions unless you provide reliable material and check the results.
