YES

As of 13 August 2026, AI can write your CV personal profile.

Most people should do this themselves; the prompt is on this page.

Can you do it?

What the alternative costsEnhancv is an AI CV builder focused on standing out with substance, while its price is not supplied here.

If this goes wrong: the profile sounds generic or overstates your experience, and you can replace it before sending the CV.

What to actually do

  1. Do it yourself

    The route this page recommends

A chat interface, no skill needed, and roughly 15 minutes until you can act on the result.

    How to actually do it

    1. Open your current CV and copy the sections covering your recent roles, qualifications, skills and relevant achievements.
    2. Open the job advert and copy the job title, essential requirements and wording that describes the work.
    3. Add two or three achievements you can explain in an interview, including figures only where they are accurate.
    4. Paste the copied information into the prompt, replacing each bracketed slot, and ask the chatbot to produce the profile.
    5. Compare every claim in the draft with your CV, employment records and actual experience, then delete anything you could not defend in an interview.
    6. Read the profile aloud beside the job advert and replace generic wording with the employer's relevant language without copying unsupported claims.
    7. Paste the checked profile at the top of your CV, then ask a trusted colleague to check that it sounds like you and matches the role.

    Prompt

Write a CV personal profile for me using only the facts I provide below. Target role: [job title]. Target sector or employer: [sector or employer, if relevant]. My current CV and work history: [paste details]. Skills I can genuinely demonstrate: [paste skills]. Two or three achievements with evidence: [paste achievements]. What I want next: [paste goal]. Write 70 to 100 words in plain British English. Make the opening specific to the target role, show relevant experience and strengths, and avoid cliches such as "hard-working", "passionate", "team player" and "results-driven" unless the evidence makes them meaningful. Do not invent qualifications, responsibilities, achievements, numbers or personal qualities. Do not repeat my name, contact details or a list of skills. Give me one finished profile, then list any factual claims I need to check.

Open it prefilled in ChatGPT or Claude, or copy it into Gemini, which takes no prefill link.

  2. Use a tool built for this

    Second choice
  3. Hand it to a person

    The distant third

A person who owns the outcome does this end to end, worth it when the failure is dear.

What it gets wrong

  • AI does not know which parts of your experience you want to emphasise unless you supply that context.
  • It turns common career language into a generic profile unless you provide specific evidence and constraints.
  • It cannot tell whether a claim reflects how you actually work or whether you would defend it confidently in an interview.
  • It cannot judge the employer's unspoken preferences from a job advert alone.
  • It does not take responsibility for an inaccurate or exaggerated claim in your CV.

Even on a YES, the friction has a name: taste and context depth.

How we scored this

Five axes, each scored nought to two by hand: ten means AI carries the task cleanly, and the thresholds that turn a total into YES, PARTLY or NO are published in the methodology. Each axis name links to its definition.

FAQ

Can ChatGPT write my CV personal profile?
Yes. Give it your work history, target role and genuine achievements, then check every claim against your experience before adding the profile to your CV.
What should I include in a CV personal profile?
Include your relevant experience, the strengths you can demonstrate and the type of role you want next. Use one or two specific achievements where they help prove your value, rather than listing unsupported adjectives.
How long should a CV personal profile be?
Keep it short enough to scan quickly, usually a compact paragraph of around 70 to 100 words. The right length depends on how much relevant experience you need to establish without repeating the rest of your CV.
Will recruiters know my CV personal profile was written by AI?
They may notice if it uses generic phrases, inflated claims or a tone that does not match the rest of your CV. Supply specific facts, remove language you would not use and read the final version aloud before sending it.
